Paula Mims is a passionate Flutist and Flute Teacher. She teaches Private Flute Lessons and Masterclasses for the DFW area. Paula works as Kathy Blocki/KinderFlute's Social Media Manager and Co-Membership Coordinator on the Texas Flute Society Executive Board. She's previously served as President and Publicity Coordinator. As a Flute Instructor, Paula has been teaching students since she was in 8th grade. She understands the importance of customizing lesson plans to fit each student’s unique learning style and believes that everyone has the capability to learn music. With knowledge on a variety of pedagogical techniques, she enjoys teaching a wide range of students and is certified in KinderFlute. She has also taught Music and Movement, General Music, Music Theory/Composition, and Drama to ages pre-primary, elementary, and middle school. As a performer, Paula is trained in traditional flute repertoire. With an affinity for Romantic and French music, Paula energetically strives to connect with her audience by transforming aspects of human emotion into musical expression. |
Paula earned her Master's Degree at Texas Woman's University in Flute Pedagogy and Performance in Spring 2019 while studying with Dr. Pamela Youngblood and serving as a Graduate Teaching Assistant. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Flute Performance with a Minor in Business Administration from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania in Spring 2017. While at SRU, she studied with Mrs. Stacey Steele and Dr. Cassandra Eisenreich.
Paula is a member of the National Flute Association (NFA), Texas Music Educators Association, and Texas Flute Society. She was selected for the 2019 NFA Convention Professional Flute Choir, 2018 NFA Internship, 2017 and 2016 NFA Collegiate Flute Choir Competitions, and the SRU 2017 Concerto Competition. She also won the NFA 2016 Marcel Moyse Essay Contest.
With her love of music, Paula seeks to bring joy to students and people of all ages through her positive spirit and devotion to education.
